It's not just for surfers anymore.

If you've walked Sydney's famous Bondi to Coogee track lately, you may have noticed a mysterious new beach that's seemed to pop up out of nowhere.

Mackenzies Bay is normally a rocky basin that's located between Bondi and Tamarama beaches. It's nothing more than a nice view during your morning walk, its big swell usually means it's reserved for body boarders.

But as the weather has started to heat up a sandy inlet has appeared in among the rocks.

Confused? Well this was the beach earlier this year and as beautiful as it is, it doesn't exactly look fit for paddling -- right?

According to locals the beach appears about once every seven years and can disappear at any given time.

Wavereley Council head lifeguard, Bruce Hopkins said the phenomenon might be explained by continuous small swell, The Daily Telegraph reports.

"Sand builds up in small surf, if it stays small it just keeps being dumped there," he said.

Funny thing is, no one has an exact answer to why this beach comes and goes but experts have speculated it could be to do with climate cycle, the El Niño.

Dog lovers have been lapping up the opportunity because the 'beach' remains unpatrolled and therefore perfect for a stroll with your pooch.

No one knows how long this so called pop-up beach will be around -- so better make the most of it while this little slice of heaven still exists.

The tides are so low that Mackenzies Bay has become a beach again. Dogs and boogie board galore. #bondi #bondibeach #ilovebondi #snapseed #panorama #iphoneonly #iphonephotography #iphone6splus #sunset #beach #beachphotography #mackenziesbay #australia #spring #home
