When two West Australian officers noticed a bag of methamphetamine on the ground at a service station, they thought the culprit who left it there wouldn't be too far off.

As they began to search the station for the person of interest, they soon discovered it was none other than a cheeky crow that had dragged the drugs out of a rubbish bin.

"No one was in the immediate vicinity so they decided to check the service station CCTV to try and identify a person or vehicle responsible for the drugs," WA Police said on their Facebook page.

"As you can see from the vision attached, the POI turned out to be a pesky crow who had fished the drugs out of a nearby rubbish bin."

WA Police say the drugs were seized and they continue to investigate who the drugs belonged to in the first place.

"The crow needs to get himself a lawyer," one officer said in the video.

One Facebook user pointed out to police in comments on the video that "if there were 2 more crows then they'd be investigating a murder".
