Get Nostalgic For 90s Music Show Recovery's Best Moments

Hair clips, cargo pants, nose rings -- the best of the 90s is all recorded on Recovery.

Time capsules should stay buried long enough for those implicated to grow soft and nostalgic about the time.

So 90s TV show Recovery's 20th anniversary is an all-too-soon reminder of irreverent velvet suits, hair clips, eyebrow rings and cargo pants made cool by the likes of Machine Gun Fellatio.

It's also a reminder of some damn great music and the occasional out-of-control, trash-the-stage live performance.

Starting in 1996, the Saturday morning ABC show gave a platform for Australian bands The Avalanches, Powerfinger, Grinspoon, Silverchair, Something For Kate and more.

Host Dylan Lewis didn't have the overglossed polish of an entertainment reporter and would cheekily jibe international acts with some exquisitely awkward results including the time Weezer vocalist Rivers Cuomo all but fell asleep on the interview couch.

To celebrate the anniversary, the ABC is releasing a DVD/CD pack of more than 100 live performances including Jebediah's 'Leaving Home' and Kate Ceberano's 'Pash'.

Co host Jane Gazzo said there was a lot to look back fondly on in the 90s.

"It was definitely a significant and healthy time for music in this country," Gazzo.

"There's still an excitement about these live performances that was there when they were first broadcast."
