NYC Dorm Chef Is Hosting Australia's Smallest Pop-Up Restaurant

Millenials at their very, very best.

First he ran a restaurant out of his dorm room in New York. Now, 22-year-old chef Jonah Reider is bringing his innovation and love of small spaces to Sydney.

This weekend, Reider will be creating Australia's smallest pop-up restaurant when he cooks up a storm in one of Darlinghurst's tiniest apartments.

How small do you mean? Well, the room is 27 square metres, it can fit up to six guests and is approximately the size of two car parks side by side, according to Broadsheet.

Reider will be cooking up an experimental four course menu that makes the most of Australian produce by using kangaroo, eucalyptus, manuka honey, lemon myrtle, and freshly caught seafood.

"It seems Australia is similar to NYC in that both places have a reputation for a crazy cost of living and small apartments", said Jonah in the AU Review.

"I opened my supper club in a dorm room and have held other pop-ups in the most bizarre of spaces – limited available space doesn't mean you can't entertain and host dank social gatherings with friends."

The young chef made a name for himself from his restaurant called Pith that was run out of his dorm-room at Colombia University.

The place became a mini cultural phenomenon with the New York Post calling it "the hottest table in town" and Stephen Colbert saying it was "fantastic, delicious, unexpected".

We've got to admit from the looks of these Instagram pictures, we can see how Pith ended up with a waitlist of 4,000 people while it was based in New York.

We hope those lucky enough to snag a spot this weekend will take to social media and show the world just what the innovative chef comes up with this time.

Registrations for October 29 and 30 are still open. It's a steal at only $50 per couple -- the lucky diners will be notified on Friday before 1pm if they've secured a spot.

According to his Facebook, he will also be hosting pop-up restaurants in both Melbourne and Auckland.
