It's not like you needed someone to remind you of Cher's goddess-like qualities, but Aussie music trio DMA's have gone and done it anyway when they covered the icon's hit "Believe" for triple j's Like A Version on Friday morning.

With Tommy on vocals and Matt and Johnny on acoustic guitar, the group, which formed from playing old school garage pop in their Newtown bedroom blessed the airways with sweet, unassuming pop.

"Pop music is good, people give it a really hard time but when you break it down the songs are amazing," Triple J presenter Matt Okine said before introducing the cover.

The result was soft, almost Oasis-y and beautiful.

As well as being a timeless classic, 'Believe' has huge significance in the history of music -- particularly for women.

When it reached Number One in 1998, Cher became the oldest female artist to top the U.S. singles chart. She was 52.

DMA's will be playing at Falls Festival in December.
