Australia's batsmen had another shocker in the cricket, in what was universally hailed as the "oh, dear" moment of the sporting weekend. But elsewhere on the sporting fields of Australia, equally humiliating events were occurring.
In the A-League, mid-table Perth Glory took on ladder-leading Sydney FC. Things started well for Glory. They had three really good chances early, but the scoresheet was still blank when this happened.
Yup. Not good. Kind of makes your teeth ache to watch, doesn't it.
You've got to feel for Perth Glory defender Dino Djulbic, who was just a little bit too careless in defense with his back pass to nobody in particular. In fact, if you watch a few more seconds of action before that final, fateful blooper, you can see there were a couple more defensive oopsies.
All the same, give goalscorer Milos Ninkovic credit. He was there, he pounced, he finished. Job done. Ninkovic, 31, is having a fantastic season for Sydney FC. A Serbian national who played for his national team in the match it lost to Australia at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, Ninkovic was already A-League player-of-the-month before this game.
His performance on the weekend reminded everybody why, and he banged home another goal in the second half, and sealed another man-of-the-match award, just to emphasise his early season dominance. Seems a nice guy too, if you watch the interview at the end of this video.
Sydney now leads the A-League league clearly with six wins from six games. The ladder is here.
