The Real Trailer For Netflix's 'Unfortunate Events' Series Is Here
Netflix

In an unfortunate event in 2015, a supposedly fake teaser for Netflix’s new “Lemony Snicket” series went viral. Well, your fortunes have changed.

The Baudelaire children are back in the new, official, real trailer for “Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events.” Count Olaf, played by Neil Patrick Harris, is back, too, and he’s more slimy than ever. (Olaf is the conniving troublemaker after the Baudelaires’ inheritance.)

Based on the video, the eight-episode series looks to capture the same beats from the books and the 2004 Jim Carrey movie. Despite that, or possibly because of it, Netflix posted the trailer with a message warning viewers not to watch when the series drops on Friday, Jan. 13:

Dear Viewer,

The world is vast and full of wonders. So on Friday, the 13th of January, please ... watch something else.

After all the anticipation, if fans do refrain from viewing, that’d be truly unfortunate.
