Man In Coma After Suspected 'One-Punch Attack' In Sydney

A man is fighting for life in hospital after being severely injured in a suspected one-punch attack in Sydney.

The vicious attack took place at Haymarket about 12.45am Sunday, police said.

"On arrival, officers located a man in his 30s with head and facial injuries," police said in a statement.

"He was taken by NSW Ambulance Paramedics to St Vincent's Hospital in a critical condition and placed in an induced coma."

It's reported that the man could have been hit in a one-punch attack.

The victim remains in intensive care where his condition is now listed as serious but stable. Police are working to identify him.

CCTV footage is being reviewed and several items have been taken for forensic examination.
