A horror smash in Sydney has claimed the lives of two people.

Two men have been killed after a horror collision between a car and a motorbike in Sydney.

The motorbike hit the side of the car at lights on Centennial Avenue just before 1am AEDT, the Nine Network reports.

Witnesses rushed to help, but both men died, Nine reports.

One witness told Nine it looked like the motorbike ran a red light.

"It was a red light, so I beeped the horn to warn him so that he can stop, but the other side of the road other guy was coming out because it was green, he was turning right, and there was a head-on collision," he is quoted as saying.

Security cameras captured the moment that the deadly crash occurred on Sydney's north shore, about 1am Saturday. Police haven't been able to determine the age of the victims.

Crash investigators are said to be at the scene and working to determine the cause of the fatal incident.
