Comedian Amy Schumer has cancelled her upcoming Australian tour just days before it was about to kick off due to illness.

The show's promoter Live Nation released a statement on Monday announcing that all scheduled shows across New Zealand and Australia will not be going ahead.

"Live Nation regret to announce that Amy Schumer's Australia -- New Zealand December tour dates will not go ahead due to illness," the statement said.

"Unfortunately, due to Amy Schumer's tight schedule it is not possible to schedule replacement dates however, we will be working to confirm a return to Australia as soon as is practical."

The Australian leg of her tour was set to kick off on Saturday at Perth Arena, before travelling to Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

This was to be her first Australian tour, although she did play a one-off gig in Melbourne while promoting her movie Trainwreck last year. The show sold out in minutes.

Disappointed fans have been informed that they will be fully refunded within 10 working days. Customers can head to Live Nation's website for more details.
