Mexican restaurant Guzman Y Gomez are giving Aussies the option of not having to leave the car to get their burrito fix, by bringing in drive-through.

The popular restaurant chain will open up to 12 drive-through outlets across the country over the next year, The Australian reports.

The chain was founded in Australia in 2006, there's now 82 Guzman Y Gomez eateries with plans to open another 20 in the next 12 months.

"People are becoming more educated on what they are eating with traditional fast food and now they don't have to compromise on quality for the convenience of a drive-through," Chief Executive Steven Marks told The Australian.

There is already drive-through stores in Nerang in Queensland and Darwin, now it looks like the rest of Australia will be joining the party.

"Our kitchens are built for it; we just needed to put in a separate window. Imagine what we could do if this is set up properly," Marks told the paper.
