Who would have known that a small-town band performing at the Warriewood Surf Life Saving Club in 1977 would become part of the anthem that defined the lives of a generation of Australians?

It's almost too hard to believe, but iconic Aussie band Icehouse is about to turn forty-years old and they're embarking on a nation-wide tour to celebrate with all of their loyal fans.

The 40 Years Live! tour will see the band perform at venues across New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania as well as in Queenstown, Taupo and Whitianga in New Zealand throughout 2017.

Since the tour's announcement in August, ticket sales have been going so well that the band have had to expand the show card to include three more gigs at Sydney's Enmore Theatre, two of which have already sold out.

Having sold more than three million albums locally and more than nine million internationally with hits like 'Great Southern Land', 'Electric Blue' and 'Crazy', Icehouse are sure to be rocking venues across the country in a matter of mere months.

With that being said, it's time to take a look back at the memories and the tunes that make this classic Aussie group so great.
