Voting in Triple J's annual Hottest 100 opened on Monday, and Australia's favourite scientist Doctor Karl has gone all David Attenborough to promote the yearly music mega poll.
The annual poll, counting down the youth radio station's most popular songs of the year and broadcast on January 26, has thrown open the floodgates to entries. Triple J has again partnered with the Australian Indigenous Mentoring Experience (AIME), aiming to raise money through donations.
To plug the poll, the station enlisted Doctor Karl -- who hosts a weekly science Q&A on Triple J -- to narrate a video featuring some of the biggest names sure to feature on the Hottest 100 countdown. Taking place inside a sweaty nightclub, Doctor Karl does his best Attenborough impression to talk about the science behind getting sweaty and silly at a concert.
The video is worth it just to hear Doctor Karl say "dank" and "cutting sick on the D-floor", and of course, for that sure-to-be-iconic shoey.
Let's watch it one more time:
The video features the likes of (deep breath) Ball Park Music,Client Liaison, DMA'S, Flume, Gang of Youths, Hermitude, Hockey Dad, Illy, Kingswood, KLP, L-FRESH the LION, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Montaigne, Ngaiire, Peking Duk, SAFIA, The Delta Riggs, The Preatures, The Rubens, The Temper Trap, Tkay Maidza, Urthboy, Violent Soho and What So Not, among "50 of the year's biggest acts", according to Triple J.
