Amid the drizzle in Sydney this morning, Circular Quay welcomed a new, very large cruise ship. Her name is Ovation of the Seas and she is certainly making her presence felt.
The immense vessel can take 4905 passengers. It clocks in as the fourth largest cruise ship in the world and the largest to be based in Australia. It cost US$1 billion to build and at 347 metres long, it's 20 percent longer than any other ship that has entered Sydney Harbour.
The ship entered Sydney Heads at about 5am this morning to dock at the Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay. Take a look:
The ship broke the Guinness World Record for the highest viewing deck on a cruise ship. If you're not afraid of heights, the Ovation of the Seas offers a viewing capsule that rises 90 metres above the sea for the most spectacular view ever.
It has some pretty fancy tech and entertainment on board. Picture robotic waiters to mix your drinks at the bar, sky diving and surfing experiences, bumper cars and a trapeze school.
Guest also have top notch dining choices with 18 restaurants including Jamie Oliver's first Australian restaurant at sea, Jamie's Italian.
Sydney is the final stop for Ovation of the Seas, which has visited Perth, Adelaide and Hobart. You can catch it's departure from Sydney Harbour on Friday 16th December at 4pm.
She will offer seven round-trip itineraries to New Zealand, the South Pacific and Australian destinations over summer then head off to Singapore in February 2017 in a repositioning cruise.
