Pauline Hanson's One Nation is expected shortly to announce more than 30 candidates to contest seats at the next Queensland election.

One Nation polled strongly at the June federal election and is thought to have its best chance in 20 years to win seats at the Queensland poll, predicted to be called next year.

According to the ABC, One Nation is due to announce 36 candidates at a function north of Brisbane on Sunday.

Among the candidates for the right wing party are former Liberal National Party MP Neil Symes for Mansfield, nurse Jane Truscott for Bundaberg and former retailer Rod Jones for Caloundra, the ABC reports.

One Nation is said to be carefully vetting candidates to avoid problems that marred the party's performance after it won 11 seats in 1998.

On Sunday, The Queensland Greens said a vote for One Nation at the state election was default support for the coalition.

"One Nation members in the Queensland Parliament can be counted on to vote with the LNP almost all the time, just like they do in the Senate. One-term Premier Campbell Newman is already talking about a LNP-One Nation coalition," Queensland Greens convenor Andrew Bartlett said in a statement.

"One Nation will only win seats in Queensland if the LNP reciprocate by giving her party a leg up with preferences, instead of doing the principled thing of putting One Nation last."
