She died from injuries suffered during an alleged bashing.

A two-year-old girl has died in hospital from injuries she suffered during an alleged bashing in Sydney's West on Tuesday.

Police say they expect to upgrade an assault charge against Mohammed Khazma, 22, to murder after the toddler died in Sydney's Westmead Children's Hospital on Tuesday night.

It's alleged Khazma, who was known to the girl, assaulted the two-year-old in a home in Guildford West on Monday night.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports the girl's mother was present during the alleged assault, and she was able to intervene and leave the home with her daughter in her car.

Emergency services were called to nearby McCredie Road, where the toddler was found unresponsive inside in a parked car.

Residents of the street reported hearing a woman screaming "You have killed my baby!".

The girl was taken to hospital by NSW Ambulance Paramedics in a critical condition. She died on Wednesday morning.

Khazma appeared in Parramatta Local Court on Tuesday, where he was formally refused bail. He is expected to reappear at Parramatta Local Court on January 10 next year.

Police say its expected his charges will be upgraded to murder when he reappears in court.
