Remember Lego? The stem of creativity, giver of sharp foot pain, colourful block-toy extraordinaire that defined childhoods around the world.

You love it. We love it. Everyone loves it.

And now that it's 2017 and job searching is at a high, if you consider yourself a Lego aficionado with a knack for building mind-boggling structures that take you all day to construct, this could be your year.

The LEGOLAND Discovery Centre is set to open in Melbourne's Chadstone shopping centre from April this year and in the lead-up, it's looking for its next Master Model Builder -- and yes, that is actually a thing.

The centre is looking for Australia's best brick builder for a dream job that could see you become the person that constructs structure attractions, curates exhibitions and shares your unique skills with children and families everywhere.

So, what's the catch?

There's a public audition for the spot where the top 100 builders battle it off in what is called 'the Brickfactor Challenge' on February 11 and 12 -- a sort of Hunger Games of Lego geniuses, consisting of thousands of Lego bricks and multiple building challenges designed to whittle contestants down to the number one Master Builder.

The winning builder will live in a custom-built studio situated next to the Discovery Centre's Creative Workshop with the privilege of being constantly surrounded by an endless number of the colourful bricks.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the General Manager of LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Melbourne, Drew Grove said: "We're thrilled to launch the brand new LEGOLAND Discovery Centre right here in Melbourne in April 2017 and to search for the perfect addition to our creative team.

"The Master Model Builder will play a vital role in bringing excitement to the centre, creating new and amazing LEGO masterpieces in the Creative Workshop, and helping children learn through play."

The Discovery Centre is set to become the "ultimate indoor Lego playground" with more than two million bricks, iconic buildings and landmarks built from scratch, Lego-themed areas, an interactive laser ride and a 4D cinema, the statement said.

Applications are open now for budding brick builders who believe they have what it takes to climb the mountain of Lego before them and be crowned the one and only Master Model Builder.
