NSW Police have stumbled upon a surprise of the slithery-type after three small snakes were discovered being sent through the post at a post office in Newcastle late on Wednesday night.
Around 10:30PM, police were contacted by staff at a post office in Glendale, northwest of Newcastle, after the reptiles, ranging from 0.2m to 1.2m in length, were uncovered hidden in parcels.
Police have since released images of the man they wish to speak to who is believed to have sent the animals and is able to help them with their investigations, according to a statement released on Friday.
It is understood the parcel containing the three small snakes was presented to the post office at around 12:22PM on Wednesday before being processed later that night.
A snake handler was called to the scene, however the species of the snakes is yet to be confirmed at this stage.
The snakes are now with appropriate authorities who are taking care of them.
The news comes after a week of snake-related incidents where an eastern brown snake proved that even snakes aren't safe from snakes in Australia, and a red-bellied black snake gave a South Australian driver the shock of her life.
