Sydney Festival: Australian Composer Mary Finsterer Premiers Biographica

An Australian made modern renaissance opera

Award winning Australian composer Mary Finsterer is recognised as one of Australia's most innovative orchestral composers.

Biographica tells the story of renaissance polymath Gerolamo Cardano, one of the most influential thinkers of all time.

Composed by Finsterer, with with libretto by Tom Wright, Biographica began as a concept 20 years ago and will finally be seen by audiences as part of Sydney Festival 2017, performed by Sydney Chamber Opera in association with Ensemble Offspring.

Finsterer sat down with HuffPost Australia during rehearsals of to talk about her new work as well as her career as an Australian composer.

Biographica runs 7–9 and 11–13 January at Carriageworks.
