International fashion model Karlie Kloss will make her Australian runway debut at David Jones' Autumn show in February.

The iconic retailer said on Sunday that the US model would join Jessica Gomes and Jesinta Franklin in the upcoming Autumn Winter 2017 Collections Launch.

There had been rumours Kloss would walk in the coveted showcase after travelling down under last month to model for David Jones' next campaign.

The 24-year-old is expected to model the store's top brands, including Zimmermann, Carla Zampatti and Ellery in what is said to be her Australian runway debut.

This year, the department store is taking the showcase outdoors, booking the St Mary's Cathedral forecourt for the February 1 event.

David Jones Chief Operating Officer David Thomas said the company was delighted to have Kloss on board.

"Karlie is a celebrated international supermodel but equally a role model known for her positive influence and dynamic approach to work and life," Thomas said.

Brand ambassador Gomes was also thrilled to have Kloss join the team.

"I've been so privileged throughout my career to have worked with some incredible talents. Karlie is indeed one of these both on and off the runway and I am super excited to welcome Karlie to the David Jones family," she told NewsCorp Australia.
