Melbourne mother Akon Guode has pleaded guilty to the murder of her three youngest children, after she drove her car into a lake in Wyndham Vale in 2015.

16-month-old Bol and four-year-old twins Hanger and Madit died when the car was submerged but another daughter Aluel, aged six, was also in the car but survived.

Guode, a mother of seven, appeared in the Supreme Court on Monday charged with one count of infanticide, two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder.

She pleaded guilty to all charges.

An earlier Magistrate's Court session heard she was withdrawn and unwell after the birth of her youngest child.

The father of the three slain children previously defended Guode, describing her as a "loving mother".

At a hearing in June, father Joseph Manyang reportedly said: "She was a loving mother, she loved her children. We were good. We loved each other, we loved the kids."

Guode has been remanded in custody until the next court appearance on January 31.
