So Apparently Beer Yoga Is A Big Thing Now

And it's coming to Melbourne and Sydney.
Namaste.

Namaste.

Have you ever been diving into your downward facing dog and felt like something was just out of reach?

An icy, cold beer, perhaps?

Dubbed the "marriage of two great loves", beer yoga is making it's way down under -- to a place where beer is almost as revered as the ancient practice itself.

Direct from Berlin, the founders of 'BierYoga' are coming to Sydney and Melbourne this month to showcase their craft -- an hour-long session of yoga done with a bottle (or two) of beer.

"BierYoga is fun but it's no joke," reads the website.

"We take the philosophies of yoga and pair it with the pleasure of beer-drinking to reach your highest level of consciousness."

But how?

The beer drinking is incorporated into each yoga pose -- or "beer salutation". Think raising your bottle to the heavens whilst in mountain pose or picking it up to drink in a modified pigeon.

For more than 12 months now, the pair -- both certified instructors and avid beer lovers -- have been running packed classes in Berlin.

Founder Jhula told Ex Berliner they first stumbled on it at American culture festival, Burning Man.

And between those Aussie beer lovers who like yoga or those yogis who love beer, we have a strange inkling it might just take off here.
