The man accused of being the Claremont serial killer appeared in a Perth court on Wednesday, via a video link. According to Perth Now, 48-year-old Bradley Robert Edwards was wearing prison greens and stared forward as the prosecution team requested an eight-week adjournment.

There were only around 30 people present in the Stirling Gardens Magistrate's court as Edwards sat with his hands in his lap.

Police allege Edwards abducted 23 year old Jane Rimmer, on June 9, 1996, after she'd been socialising in Claremont. Rimmer's body was discovered two months later.

It's also alleged Edwards abducted 27-year-old Ciara Glennon on March 14, 1997; she had also been out with friends in Claremont when she disappeared. The young lawyer's body was found three weeks later in bushland.

Sarah Spiers, 18, is regarded as being the first victim, but her body has never been found. Edwards' murder charges relate only to the deaths of Rimmer and Glennon. He is also accused of the rape of a teenage girl in 1995 and, in 1988, the indecent assault of another woman.

According to the ABC, during his brief court appearance today Edwards did not enter pleas to the charges. State prosecutor Carmel Barbagallo told the court there had been communications with Edwards' lawyer, leading to the request of an adjournment, to allow documents to be provided to the defence.

The ABC reported that Edwards was sitting quietly, and showing no emotion.

Edwards has been remanded in custody is due to appear in court again in March.
