One Nation has canned its candidate for Mulgrave in Queensland's far north, Peter Rogers, following a conspiracy-type article published on a website about the Port Arthur massacre.
Rogers, 57, said on Facebook that he would not be standing for Mulgrave after a conference call with Pauline Hanson and other officials in the far-right party.
"Well, I have just received a group phone conference from Pauline, James, Aiden and the new leader Steve Dixon and I will NOT be running as a candidate for Pauline Hanson One Nation Mulgrave," Rogers said.
"I was asked to resign a couple of weeks ago and I have waited for the not so good news."
Later, Rogers used the social media platform to thank his supporters.
The article reportedly claimed the young boy was still alive and the Tasmanian massacre was a hoax.
