Widowed Pensioner Looks For A Fishing Buddy On Gumtree

Read and weep, folks. Read and weep.
I'll grab the burley, you grab the bait.

I'll grab the burley, you grab the bait.

If you're feeling a bit vulnerable this Monday, grab some tissues because this tale of a widowed pensioner looking for a new fishing mate on Gumtree might break your heart.

Ray Johnstone posted the advertisement looking for a buddy to head out on the water with after his poor mate passed away. Very sad but indisputably proactive.

"My name is Ray Johnstone Australian I'm a widowed pensioner who is looking for a fishing mate my previous fishing mate is now deceased," he wrote in the ad, which has been viewed more than 22,000 times.

"I am a land based fisherman I have all the gear for all types of fish that is required for land based fishing," Johnstone said.

One of those views turned out to be the mate Johnstone so desperately deserves, with the widower on Monday finding a pal to go fishing with him.

"I have found a fishing partner. Gumtree called me and said the ad went viral," Johnstone told Nine.com.au.

One of the highlights of the the post is when Johnstone switched the text to caps lock randomly and quite possibly accidentally.

Let's face it, are your parents (or grandparents) really your parents if they haven't done that at least once?

"What I want is a fishing mate in a similar position to myself who also wants someone to go fishing with I am willing to share all costs," Johnstone said in his ad.

"To arrange a meeting to see if we could get along with each other thanking you Ray Johnstone."
