Videos Capture Massive Green Fireball Streaking Across America's Midwest

People across nine states and Canada reported seeing the bright light just before 1:30 a.m. Monday.

Night owls in the Midwest got a spectacular treat early Monday morning when a massive green and blue fireball flew across the sky, a series of stunning videos show.

The American Meteor Society said they received more than 185 reports from nine states, as well as Ontario, Canada, about the fiery trajectory that was spotted just before 1:30 a.m.

"The green fireball was seen primarily from Illinois and Wisconsin but witnesses from Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Iowa, New York, Kentucky, Minnesota and Ontario (Canada) also reported the event," the organization said on its website.

The fireball, which is another term for a very bright meteor, is believed to have traveled southwest to northeast into the Lake Michigan area, around Sheboygan and Manitowoc, Wisconsin, AMS said.

There, people in Wisconsin reported hearing a loud boom and even feeling a building shake, Fox 6 News reported.
