A man tried and acquitted for the murders of two Aboriginal children in the 1990s at Bowraville has once again been charged with the crimes, according to reports.

The man appeared in Newcastle Court on Thursday over the murders of Evelyn Greenup, 4, and Clinton Speedy-Duroux, 16, on the mid-north NSW coast in 1990 and 1991.

The Bowraville murders were a series of disappearances and killings where the bodies of the victims were found near the Aboriginal Mission.
