Several people have been injured in an explosion at a nuclear power plant in France near the English Channel, according to reports.
The explosion is said to have occurred at the EDF Nuclear Power plant in Flamanville, which is located in north-western France and borders the channel connecting the country to the United Kingdom.

The blast is understood to have occurred at around 10am local time (8pm AEST) and emergency services are at the scene.
Local authorities have reportedly said that "no nuclear risk" has come from the incident.
According to the Metro UK, the explosion is believed to have originated from an engine room located in the plant and a fire was sparked as a result of the explosion.
