It's an age defined by how many followers you have on Instagram. But it's still a lot of fun.

What's it like growing up in a world where social media "likes" can define your popularity?

"Like a forked path, at 14 you reach a road where you have to make choices. There's so much pressure to do the wrong thing," wrote Luke van Ratingen for HuffPost Australia last year.

Being 14 means you're half mature. You get the respect you need from older people, but you can still goof around and be a child. In some ways, it's the best of both worlds.

Inspired by his blog on what it's like being 14, Cayla Dengate talks to Luke and his friends Josh and Piper about growing up in an era of digital and social saturation for the latest episode of The Huffington Post Australia's new podcast, HuffPost Humans.

It's a lot of fun being 14, but it's an age defined by the amount of followers you have on social media -- some of whom are "weird old men" -- and how much you can compete in school.
