Elton John Is Coming To Australia, But Only For Two North Queensland Shows

Mackay and Cairns, this is your song.

Legendary Sir Elton John will return to Australia this September for the Once in a Lifetime concerts across two exclusive nights in Mackay and Cairns, where he'll deliver his greatest hits and probably bring the crowd to tears with joy and excitement.

Premier of Queensland, Annastacia Palaszczuk, today announced concerts on Friday September 22 in Mackay at BB Print Stadium and Cairns at Cazaly's Stadium on Saturday 30 September.

The performances mark the 50th Anniversary Year of the Elton John/Bernie Taupin writing partnership, and will see the icon play at two outdoor venues he's never played before.

In a statement from Chugg Entertainment, Sir Elton John said:

"I always love coming back to Australia. It holds a very special place in my heart, ever since my first visit there at the start of my world-wide career in 1971. My band and I are really looking forward to playing there again in September and this tour will be even more memorable because it will be the first time I have ever played Mackay and Cairns... which I can't believe but there you have it. If the audiences are anything like those at all of the other shows we have done in Queensland over the years, everyone will surely be in for a wonderful crazy night!"

The tour will feature hits from throughout his incredible five-decade career, including a selection of songs from his highly acclaimed album, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.

Tickets go on sale Tuesday March 14 and while no further concert dates have been revealed as yet, Chugg Entertainment said additional performances may be announced at a later date.

We sure hope so. Don't go breaking our heart now, Elton.
