Man Dies In Workplace Incident At Barangaroo

NSW Police have confirmed a man has died in a workplace accident at Barangaroo in the Sydney CBD on Wednesday.

Emergency services were called to a barge on the water in Darling Harbour near Lime Street in Barangaroo at around 4:40pm, according to a statement released by NSW Police.

Police believe the man, aged in his 30s, was working at a construction site on the barge when he was struck by a metal object.

He died at the scene.

NSW Transport confirmed the man was working on a barge as part of the Barangaroo Ferry Hub Project, according to a statement released on Wednesday.

The government body have said they are "deeply saddened" by the incident and confirmed they will work with authorities to uncover the origin of the accident.

Work Safe NSW has been advised of the incident and a report is being prepared for the Coroner.
