The boy's mother felt her son hard been ripped off.

A mother in a remote Northern Territory community has complained to police about the :quite exorbitant" price her son paid for a bag of cannabis.

She even brought the small bag of cannabis with her to make the complaint about the illegal transaction.

"The woman was complaining on behalf of her son, who she felt had been hard done by in the illegal transaction," a Facebook post made by the police read.

A search warrant was executed for the premises in question where police seized a large amount of cash and issued a liquor infringement notice; they did not however locate anymore of the outrageously priced marijuana.

Northern Territory Police were pleased to know that people were taking them up on their offer to help people out with drug dealers that they felt were ripping them off. They made the offer in January after a woman rang them complaining about a price hike in marijuana.

"A woman called police to complain about the price of marijuana in her community, reporting that her local drug dealer had asked for more money than the usual," the police said in a Facebook post.

"Completely offended, the woman demanded that police investigate this 'outrageous' price hike. When asked for further details, the woman hung up."

Police have said that they appreciate the community's co-operation and would love to help out members of the public who feel that they've been ripped off.
