Music superstar Adele has wowed more than 90,000 adoring fans at her sell-out show in Sydney.
The crowd that turned out to see the megastar singer at ANZ Stadium on Friday night was so big that Adele had to push back her scheduled 7.30pm start time because trains taking fans to the stadium couldn't handle the demand.
The British songstress' army of fans weren't disappointed. Adele, in Australia for her first-ever tour Down Under, delivered for those in attendance with a set that balanced intimate performance and big showy numbers.
Indeed, she gave the crowd exactly what it had come to see, including early hits Chasing Pavements and Hometown Glory to her most recent single, Water Under The Bridge.
"I started doing bars, then theatres, then they convinced me to do arenas ... Stadiums were just bewildering but I had to come, because I'm so blessed that so many of you wanted to see me," she said, according to NewsCorp Australia.
At one point she put on a crown handed to her by someone in the audience -- a move greeted with much approval on social media.
The multiple grammy winner also leapt to the defence of fellow pop sensation Justin Bieber, who is set to play the same Sydney venue, ANZ stadium, next week.
Adele asked the crowd if they would be attending Bieber's show and was met with resounding boos.
"If you started out at 12, you'd be like that too, okay!" she's quoted as telling the crowd in response.

Adele will perform again at ANZ stadium on Saturday night, before moving to Adelaide where she will play the Adelaide Oval on Monday.
