In the midst of destruction, emergency crews have celebrated bringing a new life into the world.

A woman gave birth to a baby girl at an ambulance station in the early hours of Wednesday morning, after Cyclone Debbie left her unable to make it to a hospital.

The Cannonvale ambulance station, right next to Airlie Beach, faced the brunt of 250km/h winds when Debbie made landfall at lunchtime on Tuesday, with cyclonic conditions continuing into the night.

Queensland Ambulance said they received thousands of calls for assistance, but were unable to respond due to the dangerous conditions.

But paramedics managed to make it to this mother, whose baby was delivered by a paramedic Pam at the ambulance station.

While some suggested the little girl should be called Debbie, her parents have reportedly chosen to name her Billiana.

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has expressed her delight at the positive outcome.

"You know, out of all of this, to see a little miracle, I think brings a smile to a lot of faces," Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said in an early morning press conference on Wednesday.

The Queensland Minister for Health and Ambulance Services, Cameron Dick, congratulated the paramedics on delivering the baby girl safely in the most difficult of circumstances.

"The birth of baby Billiana reminds us that life is precious and by looking after each other, all will be ok," he tweeted.
