It's Time To 'Set The Record Straight' On Forms Of Contraception

Tackling the myths of online misinformation.

Understanding current forms of contraception can be tricky when most information comes from the Internet, making it hard for women to navigate protective sex before they're sent down the wrong path.

Speaking with The Huffington Post Australia's Editor-At-Large Lisa Wilkinson, Medical Director of Family Planning NSW Dr Deborah Bateson tackled some of the myths and realities of contraception and said it's time to "set the record straight".

"There's a lot of misformation and it's very hard to navigate your way through it sometimes," Bateson said.

"It's an ideal opportunity to set the record straight and empower women to know where to look for good information and start things rolling."

Wilkinson and Bateson spoke during a Facebook Live session as part of HuffPost Australia's No Two Women series which focuses on the idea that no two women are the same when it comes to female health and an accurate and reliable source of information is needed.

The pair discussed everything from Intrauterine devices (IUDs) to the risks and benefits of contraceptive pills and different forms of contraception for both men and women.
