Taika Waititi Revealed The Character He'll Play In 'Thor: Ragnarok'

Korg really rocks. Get it? Rocks?

Thor is swinging his mighty hammer and will be flying into cinemas later this year, and we're slowly getting more information of the film, the latest is good news for Marvel geeks AND fans of the film's director, Taika Waititi.

In a recent event Mavel held for a handful of journalists showing footage of their upcoming films like "Black Panther", "Ant-Man and the Wasp" and "Thor: Ragnarok". One such piece of footage featured Waititi, where he confirmed that he'll be making a cameo in the film as the warrior Korg.

Back in September 2016, Waititi posted a ~mysterious~ Instagram of a piano pedal by the same name with the simple caption "Watch this space... #Ragnarok". Finally, we not only know that Korg is going to play a role in the film, but Waititi will be lending his signature humour to the Kronan (that's his species FYI).

Having to perform in a motion capture suit that Mark Ruffalo affectionately called "the emasculation suit", Waititi's version of Korg is still visually in the works, as they attempt to give him a look that suits the actor's version -- making him comedic, kind of adorable but still an incredibly fierce warrior all at the same time.

This isn't the first Korg to feature in the Thor films, with one making a very short cameo in "The Dark World" before taking Thor's hammer, Mjölnir, right to the kisser. But by all accounts it looks like "Ragnarok" is ignoring that, potentially just writing it off as a totally different Kronan. Kronans are big units whose bodily structure gives them the appearance of being made of rocks.

"Ragnarok" sees Thor imprisoned on a planet named Sakaar, where an entity known as the Grandmaster has forced skilled warriors to fight against each other for his enjoyment. Along with Thor and Korg, the Grandmaster has also imprisoned possibly the greatest fighter of all time: the Hulk. Thor must fight against his grumpy green friend in an attempt to escape Sakaar and return to his home world before an ancient evil can trigger Ragnarök, the collapse of Asgard. Hectic right?

Taika has appeared in many of his other films he's directed like "What We Do in the Shadows", "Hunt for the Wilderpeople", "Boy" and now "Ragnarok".

Joining Taika is a massive cast including Chris Hemsworth, Idris Elba, Mark Ruffalo, Cate Blanchett, Tessa Thompson, Jeff Goldblum and Anthony Hopkins. Absolutely massive.
