You might not remember the 2002 live-action version of "Scooby-Doo", which means you'll be even more surprised to know that James Gunn, the man behind the massive "Guardians of the Galaxy" films, actually wrote the script.
Well, it turns out that Gunn has been super vocal about his motivation behind the big reveal where (spoiler warning for a film that came out in 2002, so sorry if you're 15 years behind on movies) the villain turned out to be none other than Scrappy-Doo, Scooby-Doo's nephew. The reason behind this villainous twist? Well a few eagle-eyed Tumblr users noticed that Gunn really, really hates Scrappy-Doo.

Yeah, Gunn has been super vocal over the years about how much he hated the pint-sized pup, like in this interview with "Wired":
Or in this interview with "Fan Boy Planet", before the film had been released:
DM: Please tell me there will not be Scrappy Doo in the movie.
JG: I can tell you I hate the little motherf****r with all my heart and soul.
Scrappy-Doo was introduced in 1979 to combat the show's drooping ratings, and initially it worked! However many people believe Scooby's distant relative should have stayed in the distance, as the cries of "Puppy power" over-saturated fans of the show.
In Gunn's film he was referred to as an egomaniac and a nut. Before his reveal as the film's big bad, he's only seen briefly in a flashback where he urinates on Daphne and tries to stage a coup, before being left in the desert. Not the most charming depiction.
Not only did Gunn's war on Scrappy-Doo stir up the flames of hatred once more, but the animated series "Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated" even had a dig at the little guy.
Looks like Scrappy won't be having a cameo in any "Guardians of the Galaxy" films any time soon.
