Cronuts, brookies and mac and cheese burgers are all food mashups we can get on board with. And there's one more to add to the list.
Sushi doughnuts.
Don't worry, they're not sushi-flavoured doughnuts, nor are they deep-fried sushi rolled in cinnamon sugar. They're simply the sushi you know and love in the lovable shape of a doughnut. Neat, eh?
But the best thing about sushi doughnuts is how easy they are to make. In fact, this colourful food trend is easier than making regular sushi rolls. No sushi rolling, nori tears or exploding fillings.
All you need is a doughnut pan and cooked sushi rice, along with your favourite sushi ingredients -- avocado, salmon, tuna, cucumber, pickled ginger, wasabi, sesame seeds... the choice is yours.
Check out the video above on how to make delicious sushi doughnuts.
Or, if you're game, why not try your hand at shoe-shi, like sushi chef and illustrator, Yujia Hu.
