This Could Be The Greatest Ever Comeback In Australian Sport

South Melbourne FC, take a bow.

This might just be the greatest comeback you will ever see in a local Australian soccer match.

Let's just say things got a little wild on Wednesday when National Premier League team South Melbourne FC took on second-tier Dandenong City SC at Lakeside Stadium in the seventh round of the Football Federation Australia (FFA) Cup.

With only eight minutes of regular time left in the match, South Melbourne's hopes of progressing on to the next round seemed to have dried up after more than an hour of Dandenong dominance saw them trailing 4-1.

And then, off the back of a Dandenong red card, South Melbourne did the unbelievable.

Before the final whistle was blown, a Jesse Daley goal and a Milos Lujic hat-trick -- including a well-taken penalty -- sealed the win for South Melbourne and kicked off the madness for the club's fans who had packed the stands for the game.

It's not every day you see your local club rocket four goals into the back of the net in such quick succession, and boy did they know it.

For those of you who might not see why this is such a big deal -- the FFA Cup is a national knockout tournament that was created in 2015 and modelled on the English FA Cup. It gives the small clubs from suburbs around the country the chance to take on the giant clubs in Australia and prove their worth.

So, in other words, a pretty big deal.

With this win, South Melbourne now progress to the Round of 32 in the FFA Cup, which could see them paired with some of those bigger clubs from the A-League.
