NSW Man Charged Over Alleged Kidnapping, Sexual Assault Of Sydney Teen

The young victim was taken to hospital after the 19-hour ordeal.

A man has been charged after a young woman was allegedly kidnapped from her home, sexually assaulted and driven across New South Wales in a 19-hour ordeal.

Police allege the 18-year-old woman was contacted by a 31-year-old man at her Bankstown home at around 2am before being forced into a car and taken to a number of locations across Sydney, according to a statement.

The man then allegedly sexually assaulted the young woman and began to drive south towards Melbourne before her family raised the alarm and police located the car around 9pm on the Hume Highway near Gundagai -- more than 350km from her home.

"A 31-year-old man was arrested and taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station where he was charged with sexual assault, indecent assault and kidnapping," the statement said.

"The woman was taken to hospital in Wagga Wagga in a stable condition and is assisting police with inquiries."

The man was refused bail and is yet to appear at Wagga Wagga Local Court on Tuesday.
