A 23-year-old man will face court after allegedly filming work colleagues while they were using a toilet at a Sydney business.

Police were alerted after an 18-year-old woman noticed the phone within a toilet area at the Surry Hills business about 10pm Saturday.

Officers seized the phone and allege several staff were recorded in the toilet without their knowledge or consent, police said in a statement.

There is also allegedly "up-skirting" vision taken of several female customers on the phone, police said.

The man was arrested and later charged with three counts of filming person in private act without consent, and two counts of filming person's private parts without consent.

He is due to face Parramatta Bail Court on Sunday.
