Charity pound Sydney Dogs and Cats Home is offering one person the dream job of a lifetime. Teaming up with Airtasker, they are on the hunt for Sydney's ultimate animal lover to help out at the shelter for the day. And as if puppy love is not payment enough, you'll be paid $500 for your time.

The idea came about following an influx of abandoned and mistreated animals. The shelter already opens its doors to 3,300 pets each year, without placing a time limit on adoption. The extra strain on the shelter's resources means staff are in need of extra hands, and are on the hunt for someone to help them out for the day.

"The latest records from the NSW Office of Local Government state that in the course of a year, over 88,000 dogs and cats entered pound facilities," Amanda Stokes, Head of Fundraising and Partnerships said in a brand statement.

"SDCH is on a mission to reduce this number by promoting responsible pet ownership, as well as reuniting and rehoming lost, abandoned and mistreated pets with forever families. Our collaboration with Airtasker is one way we hope to encourage Australians to get involved in helping animals across the country."

Applicants must explain why they're the best person for the task via the listing on Airtasker which closes September 17.
