The travel plans of some Virgin passengers travelling to Sunday's NRL grand final have been thrown into disarray due to a glitch with the airline's check-in system.
"We are currently experiencing a disruption to our check-in systems due to an Optus technical issue," the airline said in a tweet on Sunday afternoon.

The Adelaide Crows, who were scheduled to fly home from Melbourne after Saturday's loss in the AFL grand final, are reportedly among those affected.

NewsCorp Australia reports that a Virgin flight from Townsville due to land in Sydney before 4pm will now arrive at 4:30pm AEDT, making it a rush for Cowboys fans to check in to their hotels then get to Homebush.
All flights leaving Melbourne to Sydney are said to be on schedule.
Twitter users took to the social media platform in the wake of the "meltdown".
