28-Yr-Old Man Charged After Allegedly Snatching Baby From Sydney Hospital

A man has been charged over the alleged abduction of an newborn baby from a hospital in Sydney's west.

The 28-year-old man is accused of snatching the baby from Blacktown Hospital with two women, aged 27 and 47, on Friday.

The infant was subsequently located at a medical centre in Blacktown and is now in givernment care, police said in a statement.

The 28-year-old man -- reportedly the baby's father -- presented himself to Kempsey Hospital on the mid north coast where he was assessed on Saturday afternoon.

Police later charged him with take/detain child with intent to remove from parental control.

The man was refused bail and was due to front Port Macquarie Local Court on Sunday.
