If you're a Harry Potter fan, this day really is as sweet as a hand full of Bertie Bots Every-Flavour Beans.

The Victorian Government announced on Wednesday that theatre production 'Harry Potter and The Cursed Child' is coming to Melbourne in 2019.

The show has only been staged in London and is due to open on Broadway in New York City in April 2018 before it heads down under.

The book itself sold over 680,000 copies in the first three days after its July 2016 release, making it the fastest-selling play script ever. The stage production went on to win 22 theatre awards in the UK.

The play will be held at Melbourne's Princess Theatre, making the city the only place the stage show can been seen in the southern hemisphere.

Tickets will be available from the play's website and to keep up to speed with performance dates, ticketing information and casting details be sure to sign up to the mailing list as well.
