Thermomix in Australia is reportedly facing large fines.

Thermomix's Australian distributor could be facing massive fines after the company reportedly confessed to misleading consumers over faulty products.

NewsCorp reports that the company's local distributor, Thermomix In Australia Pty Ltd, also admitted to knowing 10 customers had been burnt before deciding to issue a public safety warning.

The alarming admission reportedly came in a court case brought by the Australian consumer watchdog which could see the company fined millions of dollars.

Corporations that mislead consumers face penalties of up to $1.1 million for each instance of misconduct for breaching consumer laws.

The alarm was raised back in 2016 when a number of people were burned using Thermomix, Channel Seven reports.

Choice spokesman Tom Godfrey told NewsCorp that the revelations "should come as a warning to anyone looking to purchase a Thermomix product in the future".

According to NewsCorp, around 200,000 households have a Thermomix TM31, which retail for about $2000 each.
