A sitting NSW magistrate has been charged with sexually assaulting a teenage boy in the early 1980s.

NSW Police allege the 67-year-old magistrate knew the teenager when he assaulted him between 1981 and 1983.

He's facing nine counts of indecent assault and is scheduled to face Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday.
