For some fans at Harry Styles' Sydney gig on Sunday night there was only one direction to head: down to the floor.

According to AAP, the 23-year-old Brit had to momentarily pause his show as security pulled several fainting girls out of the front of the crowd.

With the house lights illuminating the Enmore Theatre, Styles asked his adoring masses to shuffle around, "If everyone in the middle could take a couple of steps back".

Styles also took a moment to celebrate Australia's recent marriage equality postal vote result.

"I'd like to say a massive congratulations to your country for waking up," Styles said to the crowd as he danced onstage holding two Pride flags.

Styles has long been a supporter of LGBTQ equality and regularly begins his shows or provides rainbow Pride flags for his audiences. On Sunday he made twice the effort, doubling his flag ratio.

Styles is in town to attend the ARIA awards on Tuesday, as well as performing two intimate shows -- one in Sydney and the next in Melbourne at the Fourm Theatre on November 30.

Styles will return to Australia in April 2018 for an arena tour of Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
