From what we non-Americans have been able to gather about 'Thanksgiving' over the years, it's the annual time of year the whole country takes the day off work to eat large meals with their extended families and avoid talking about gun violence. Kind of like Christmas without the presents, we guess?

The rest of the world may not participate in this American tradition with rather sinister origins towards its Indigenous people (Australians have 'Australia Day' for that), yet it's hard not to relate to these 'Thanksgiving' tweets about family, food, over-eating and racist uncles.

We collected some of our faves here.
