Interesting choice.

Coldplay will headline the Super Bowl halftime show, sources confirmed to multiple outlets.

The British band will make their halftime debut at Super Bowl 50 on Feb. 7 at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California. News of the performance comes a day before the release of the band's seventh album, "A Head Full of Dreams."

The band is a surprising choice for the halftime show, but they'll be joined by Bruno Mars, who was initially thought to have been offered the top spot. According to The Wall Street Journal, Beyoncé is currently in talks to make a guest appearance, as she's featured on Coldplay's new album.

The band, which is fronted by Chris Martin, has some big shoes to fill following Katy Perry's sharktastic 2015 performance, which was the most-watched halftime show ever with 118.5 million people tuning in.
